THANK YOU for your support and efforts in uniting St. Augustine College and ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú into one organization centered around a shared Mission for student success.

Presidential Note from Dr. David Livingston

The position for the Dean of St. Augustine College is posted at . The St. Augustine College executive leader will coordinate and oversee daily operations at St. Augustine at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú, among other duties. The Dean will be instrumental in helping ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú infuse St Augustine's transitional language approach and overall mission into all of our locations.

In February, Dr. Shireen Roshanravan, Vice President for Diversity, reminded St. Augustine community that ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú is a Sanctified Zone and provides resources that support students, faculty and staff across all sites, such as lewisu.edu/lucares. Chief of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Police Mike Zegadlo, reviewed safety procedures and protocols in place at the Argyle location to provide safety.

Achieved Successes

Academics / Student Support

Academic Support and Student Life leaders from the Romeoville campus met with counterparts from St. Augustine on January 15 (at St. Augustine) to discuss ongoing integration and sharing of resources related to academic support and student life.

·         A new academic support integration working group will meet monthly to share information and discuss extension of Romeoville-based academic support resources to students at the St. Augustine campus related to tutoring, the Writing Center, use of online resources, and more.

Belonging

Undocumented and immigrant student resources are available online at lewisu.edu/lucares and paper copies of resources are available in various areas at the Argyle location.

All St. Augustine College employees are ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú employees.

Strategic Initiatives

Branding unified St. Augustine with ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú to present a cohesive university atmosphere, such as updated signage at Argyle St. to "St. Augustine College at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú"(pictured in the top of this newsletter). New signage is coming to the South location in the Little Village neighborhood.

The website was redesigned to reflect the new branding of St. Augustine College at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú.

Current Updates

Academics / Student Support

The English Language Placement Test Working Group continues to review and revise the English language placement process at St. Augustine. The revision should be complete for Fall 2025 admissions.

Several policy/procedures are being aligned and undergoing governance approvals at the college and/or University level.

  • Course equivalency project launched in November 2024. LU faculty, in collaboration with legacy SAC faculty, are in the process of analyzing syllabi to determine equivalencies, modifications, and new courses.
  • The catalogs of the two institutions are being combined into one comprehensive version.

Belonging

The Office of Diversity provided UndocuAlly Training to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to support undocumented students and community members. For more details or to request a training for your unit, please email dei@lewisu.edu.

Promoting new programs that begin at St. Augustine in Fall

  • Medical Assistant Certificate
  • A.A.S. in Pharmacy Tech
  • B.S. in Nursing, Aviation, and Criminal Justice

Technology

Work is in progress between consulting firm Ferilli, which is helping extract student record information from Jenzabar. It has been mapping information from Jenzabar with input from ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú and St. Augustine leads. Data will go into the Banner Test Environment in early April and there will be multiple rounds of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú/St. Augustine leads validating info in the test environment. The scheduled date for completion of the Janzabar records transfer to Banner is July 1.

Future Goals

Academics / Student Support

Upon Dept. of Ed approval, St. Augustine students will become ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú students and they will have access to resources, such as TimleyCare for telehealth services and Med+Proctor for Immunization records.

Advancement

At the South location in the Little Village neighborhood, Institute for Workforce Education (IWE) will complete construction on the 2nd floor.

  • The construction project was funded by a $1.2 million grant from the McCormick Tribune Foundation.
  • The grant and construction will enable IWE to offer more pre-apprenticeship programs that serve the Little Village community.

Operations

Reviewing and preparing to renew service contracts and/or allow service contracts to expire. Consolidating service contracts with existing if warranted.

The Student Council and Student Success Center co-host this Student Success Center Signature annual event. There will be something for everyone. If you would like to facilitate an activity, all volunteers are welcome and appreciated. Bring your family. Spread the word.

Survivor Resource Specialist Visit

April 23 - noon-6pm

Student Success Center - Argyle

Emily Morrissette is a Resource Survivor Specialist based in Romeoville and will be available in the Student Success

Center on March 26 and April 23. Survivors can walk in from 12pm-6pm or you can set up a zoom appointment through emorrissette@lewisu.edu.

Celebration of Service

April 16 - 3 pm-5pm

Convocation Hall - Romeoville

Join us for the 33rd Annual “A Celebration of Service,” where we will honor faculty and staff anniversary years of service ranging from 10-40 years as well as the employees who retired in 2024.
